My Green Journey

I stopped buying CDs

Friday, 26 February 2010

The issue of pirated music still is and always has been a very contentious issue. When you have report after report and research documentation that comes with it as proof, that music bought online is better for the environment than walking into music stores and buying a CD, you find it hard not to believe that the western world doesn’t have it in for you.

I recycled my waste

Tuesday, 16 February 2010

The office was abuzz last week when the new recycling bins arrived. It was like a shiny new toy had been delivered for everyone to play with (aside from the two Touchscreen kiosks delivered by Optimal Energy). Each one was clearly marked for ‘GLASS’, ‘TIN’, and ‘PLASTIC’. Yes. It was clearly about time we started actively taking part and doing our bit.

The one thing that everyone in South Africa is looking forward to this year is the Soccer World Cup tournament. Whether you’re a soccer fan or not, it will be near impossible to avoid getting caught up in the buzz.

I changed my shower head

Wednesday, 6 January 2010

Yesterday I did myself proud when I bought a low-flow shower head. I must admit. It wasn’t easy having so little water to shower with this morning. I felt like I was in the middle of a drought and it was raining but the rain just wouldn’t pour. It just drizzled. Nonetheless, I had to look at the bigger picture. That low-flow shower head was going to make an impact – small as it may be – on our water resources.
